Former Major League Baseball player Angel Echeveria has died at 48

Former #1 ranked Backgammon player Matvey Natanzon (better known by his pseudonym Falafel) died earlier today. Wiki does not list his age, but this New Yorkerarticle says he was yrs old in 1972.

Your “4” dropped out. He was 4 in 1972

Caroline Flack, former presenter of Love Island, has died at 40.

Lynn Cohen, who played Magda in ‘Sex and the City,’ has died at 86.

Clayton Williams has died at age 88.

Williams was a businessman and the Republican candidate for the Texas gubernatorial race in 1990. He lost to the Democratic candidate Ann Richards.

If Hell exists and Mr. Williams finds himself there, I’d advise him to “relax and enjoy it.”

I remember him and that comment.

Cheryl Sanders, who was injured badly in a Back the Future Part II stunt, was killed by her ex-husband. Age 59.

Read about the deadly(almost anyway) stunt that they did in BttF2.

Nikita Pearl Waligwa, an actress known for Queen of Katwe from Disney, has died at age 15, after battling brain tumors for the last few years.

While that sucks, think of the points someone could have claimed, Age and being a unique pick?

Ordained minister Dyanne Thorne-gone at age 83.

Do our picks have to be 18 or older?

You may be right. In fact, you probably are.

Yes. Rule 3(d);

Tony Fernandez, former Toronto Blue Jays shortstop, dies at age 57.

Link.

I wasn’t a Toronto fan, but I remember this guy when he played. Probably the best shortstop in the history of the organization.

d. under age 18 at death, 'cause we’re macabre but not THAT macabre.

You know, I’ve never understood this rule. It’s no more macabre to say “Ooh! I got 96 points cuz the Gerber baby(who had been suffering from pablumitis) died” than it is to say "Yay! Random Old Guy(who had been suffering from cancer or just being an old guy) died and I get 15 points!

I’m not even a baseball fan but I remember him, too. He was phenomenal.

I think you’re probably in the minority on this one. To my mind, a child dying is qualitatively worse than an adult dying, especially an adult over (say) 70 - though admittedly the ‘thresholds’ here are arbitrary. Someone who dies under 18 hasn’t really had a fair crack at life.

I happen to agree with bayaker. I confess to being a very twisted, morbid individual, but opening the contest up to minors wouldn’t bother me in the least.

I’d feel pretty uncomfortable about getting rid of that rule.
