I collect versions of the Ellington song “Caravan,” and recently added one from an album called “Caravan Gogh” that amuses me no end. This a a project, apparently, of a multi-genre cellist named Gideon Freudmann, who’s got at least 17 albums out.
Anyone familiar with this cat (sic)? Any recommendations? Y’all steered me right when I first discovered Andrew Bird – hope you can do it again.
Thanks to this thread I have just listened to several songs from the Adobe Dog House album (the only available on the free music sharing site I enjoy).
I’m finding Freudmann to be a fairly talented songwriter, with a definite strength lying in a more folksy, almost Celtic vein. His playing skill isn’t demonstrated to be anything on the awe-inspiring side, on the tracks to which I’ve listened, but sufficient for the compositions, surely.
