I watch TYT and I had often thought Cenk would be a great candidate.
He’s very knowledgeable on the issues and cuts straight to the point, in a very passionate way.
He’s exactly what democrats need at this time; we need people who are going to call republican BS, not just trump but everyone enabling him, in a way that gets the attention of people unwilling to even hear a democratic opinion.
I didn’t hear about the scandals until later, but in his interview he said he took the comments back around 20 years ago when he switched political views and started TYT.
I’m not sure I believe the latter (although the thing about women needing to have sex with him was clearly not serious), but he’s certainly supported progressive policies for all that time, and if his old comments are disqualifying, then we’re saying that anyone who publically says anything dumb, at any point in their life, is disqualified forever.
He is like The Majority Report or MSNBC. You know that the two people you cited are batshit rico level propagandists, who are bringing us to the point of a national crisis with smiles and grins on their faces.

And he got one of his female staffers to fawn all over him on twitters, even saying things like “I am disgusted that the Dem party uses the very serious issues of mysogony (sic) and rape culture to keep real progressives out of office…”
Yeah, the Democrats *should *use issues like rape culture and misogyny to keep candidates out of office, no matter their politcal leanings. Of course we should start with trump, but still…
I’m having a hard time with a ‘young and stupid’ excuse when he was blogging this stuff at age 31. How do you not have core values by then? He should stay in his current role.
It’s not just a ‘bad opinion’ or a single instance of stupidity. It’s not knowing who the fuck you are at age 30. Sure, he’s ‘repudiated’ his former views for X years, but why did he hold them so long into adulthood? Did he believe in something or was he just looking for a gig? Does he believe what he says now? There are hardworking people in public service who have been at it for years. Like Christy Smith.
Someone who has earned it. This smells like a carpetbagging mini-celebrity looking for his next vanity project
We can have a discussion about that question, but regardless I disagree that it should be disqualifying.
He’s not just reversed those views for 20 years, but been a champion for progressive causes in that time. I have no doubt he will continue to be. And as an orator, he’s one of the best I’ve seen at shooting down republican nonsense, perhaps because he was once republican himself. I think it’s just shooting ourselves in the foot to reject a candidate like this.
He’s politically quite active, this has not come from nowhere. For example, he founded Wolf PAC.
And I don’t care about “earned it”, I care about who is going to best drive progressive causes and lead to actual progress.
Cenk is very active on social media and also has thousands of TV appearances. A comment like that has been found from sifting through every minute / character of it to find any possible dirt. It’s not some representative sample of what he normally talks about.
Anyway, the best they could find is some comment about fake tits being common in California…yeah OK I’ll say could be offensive, but I would think on the very weak end of it.
With two-thirds of the results in lets just put it this way: he received more retweets for his candidacy announcement three months ago than the number of votes he has received.
TYT has turned into the Bernie Sanders Dick Sucking Society. It’s unwatchable now- they’re nearly as much of the Bernie Cult as the MAGAbots are for Donald. Good to see him crash and burn. He’s an obnoxious little twerp.
TYT call themselves “the home of progressives”. They’re very up front about it. They were pro-Warren for awhile too. It’s no surprise they are pro-Bernie.
