All political and partisan concerns aside, I pray for Bush to lose JUST to spare me from one more second of having to hear or see that deeply unattractive and irritating woman.
And should Bush be elected, I pray that he does something with her that does not require that she ever be on television.
Someone along the way said that she is the single most obnoxious and irritating figure in this whole affair, and that is absolutely true. No one on either side even comes close.
<shudder>
If hell exists and I end up there, I’m guessing that in addition to the mariachi music playing at top volume, my personal guide will no doubt be Karen Hughes.
stoid
She is the only female speaking on the Bush side. She looks very butch, with that gray helmet-head, and she is a big woman. But the thing that I don’t like about her looks is her mouth…it’s has this weirdly pinched look that gets exceptionally unpleasant to gaze upon when she’s ticked off.
thanks, that was interesting -
it reminded me of an article that appeared in the Washington Post before the election - that if some alien came to Lansing MI (where I am) they’d assume that sit coms and game shows were just things that we suffered through before we got our political ads, the highest office in the Land would be the Michigan Supreme Court, and that “George Bush doesn’t know any white people”.
I see by your link that the last is untrue .
On the OP, don’t know that I saw anything remarkable to dislike. Her voice, looks etc. Now if you’d mentioned stuff she’d SAID and DONE that were offensive, I might be able to see your point. sorry.
Virtually everything she says and does…but that leads to the whole election thing and we’ve got enough going on with that. I just came here to express it.
So basically, you needed a whole new thread to vent about Karen Hughes’ appearance? If you disagree with what she’s been saying, I’m sure you can find a thread to put it in. Hell, you started 100 or so yourself. But, no, you again had to find yourself another reason to proclaim the inferiority of Republicans.
Really, I have to say this is one of the shallowest excuses for a new thread I’ve ever seen. The world is full of ugly people. Deal with it. We already know that you don’t agree with, trust, or even like conservatives. We probably would have given you the benefit of the doubt and assumed that you were at least rational enough to not base your sense of esthetics on party affiliation, but I guess we would have been wrong.
So tell me, are there any aspects of your life that aren’t centered around being a whiney, annoying, liberal? If you truly care about fighting against ignorance, you may want to try being less blindly partisan.
Well ok, if we’re just gonna talk about looks… Is it just me, or does Lawrence Lindsey look JUST like Rush Limbaugh? And Mark McKinnon looks like someone gave his eyes a facelift upside down.
Just for perspective, consider the reaction of two supposedly partisan taking-heads on the “Today” show this week. (Yeah, yeah, not an authoritative news source, but an apt mirror for pop opinion. They give the weather in the morning, all right? Sheesh.)
Fair or not, both sides agreed that Ms. Hughes didn’t come across well. I think it was the conservative pundit who said she looked like Cruella DaVille getting ready to strangle puppies.
This whole election mess has polarized people badly, so the established habit of imputing evil based on women’s looks shouldn’t be surprising. Consider some of the truly vicious comments made about Janet Reno, Madeline Albright, Paula Jones, Linda Tripp, Hillary R. Clinton, and Lucianne Whatshername. (Sorry, brain lapse on the last one.)
Kinda strange and sickening, actually. At least Pat Buchanan, etc. are awarded the dignity of being villified for what do and say.
And don’t get me started on Rush Limbaugh. He’s a media hound who helped debase the rules to their current low point.
You know - I lurk a lot. A LOT. But damn Stiod, I gotta say. Your method of debating really, well, sucks.
You’ve said in other threads (I can’t remember which one - I lost track after the 4523421st) that you hang around here because you like to debate. But in my observations, your methods of debating seem to be posting your opinion, then reiterating your opinion, then starting a new thread.
Part of debating means trying to prove your position. Blerting out rhetoric without any kind of backup is not debating.
Now, I don’t expect you to take me seriously. I haven’t participated in any of your other threads, I am posting against you for the first time in the Pit on an issue which you are clearly trying to make as an opinion, and since I am Canadian, I have no real stake in your Democrat vs. Republican conflict. But damn. Debate. Don’t talk.
Did anybody notice the word “irritating” in the OP? And that my description of her looks was to help someone remember who she is, not to explain why I object to her?
It is not her looks per se that I object to, it is looking at her. She radiates “smug bitch with zero tolerance”. I admit that my distaste for the woman almost certainly is amplified by the cause she speaks on behalf of, but I would find her unpleasant in any case.
She is not, in fact, an inherently unattractive person, if all you are looking at is the features god gave her. They might even be attractive. It’s the way she talks, dresses, presents herself, her attitude…it’s the style and the person shining through.
And Grim: this isn’t a debate. It’s the pit. How many times have I seen, have we all seen, that if you wanna rant about someone or something, you “take it to the pit”. Karen Hughes was getting on my nerves, so I took it to the pit and expressed it.
