Cervaise and I are finally going to come and visit my home town, lovely Chicago, for a week in August, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrive Monday the 11th, leave Sunday the 17th.
We’ll be staying downtown, in a big old fancy hotel. We’ll be tooling around doing touristy stuff. We’ll be eating a bunch of yummy food. We’ll go see Buckingham fountain, because that’s what we always did when I was a kid. We’ll be sweating like pigs, because it will be much hotter in Chicago than Seattle. We’ll see my family, and my friends, and see my sights. Poor guy.
Oh yeah, and you guys. When will we see you? Not Friday 8/15, that’s out. Otherwise, we haven’t made any plans yet. So when is it going to be? And where?
If you plan on a weekend event I’m more likely to be able to make it, but if not, I’ll certainly try – I’d love to meetcha! I’m sure the oh-so-friendly Chidopers will step up toot sweet.

I work Wednesday, and I’m catering on Friday and Saturday.
I think my wife wants to have dinner in Greek Town (or is it Greektown? she’s from Chicago, I’m not) at least one night. Is it looking like Thursday is the best alternative?
It’s hard to tell, since NONE OF THE CHICAGO DOPERS OTHER THAN GUNDY, DINSDALE AND JARBABY HAVE RESPONDED! What the hell is wrong with you people? I thought you guys were supposed to be legendary Dopefesters: any excuse for a boozy soiree.
I’m up for drinks or dinner or whatever. Already booked that Saturday for dinner, but might be able to make it for drinks, and will try to make it any other time.
We just had ChiDope Lunch Bunch in Greek Town and had a great time, so I’m sure we could have a great time there again!
Would have missed this one if not for the restaurant recommendation thread (would have posted there, but my taste tends to run more to hole-in-the-wall ethnic places). Count me in, unless Mr. Ashcroft comes up with another dingy plan to keep me at work for the rest of my natural life. Anyone pick a place yet?
What were the Greektown suggstions other than Santorini from the ChiDope Lunch Bunch thread? Anything is good for me, but if people are planning on consuming mass quantities of food and drink, perhaps one of the more budget-minded places might be a better choice?
Greek Islands, Pegasus, and anything anyone else comes up with. Greek Islands is kind of an old standard, but Pegasus has a rooftop deck if the weather is nice. Food is yummy at both places.
A maybe here checking in. I am taking Friday off work, so better than maybe actually. And, if you are up for something on Saturday, I am having a few people over to sit in the backyard and dring some martinin’s. Normally, we would also be enjoying the garden but since the storm this past Sunday ruined our garden and broke our gazing ball, there is no garden left to speak of.
