Okay. It took me literally WEEKS to read this fascinating thread. I read every fraking post, to use Battlestar Galactica-ese. What a long haul.
I just wanted to say that I get why people are totally creeped out over Cesario, I shuddered a few times myself. But so what? He has been crystal clear about his boundaries, about his intentions (or non-intentions), and as has been pointed out numerous times here, on a message board, that’s all we have to go on, for better or for worse.
Having attractions inappropriate to current social norms does not make a person degenerate in and of itself, which is pretty much the claim being made here. What those attractions are, how mortified we are or how repugnant we find them has no bearing on this particular question.
Once we begin thinking that way (out of the ick/fear factor rather than through logical processes), it’s the beginnings of a good old fashioned witch hunt. Thought crime and all that- nuff said, that dead horse has already been beaten to a pulp.
Another fallacy that bugged me throughout this whole thing was the idea that Cesario’s test is meant as some kind of bridge to fulfilling his desires. I never saw where this connection was made except in the cynical minds of his detractors.
And the unwillingness to differentiate rationally between pedophiles and molesters is just virtuostic obstuseness at this point.
