my mom read a thing in the paper over three years ago talking about the idea of “genetic alcoholism”. it gave rough calculations as to what percent chance a person would have of being genetically prone to alcoholism based on how many of certain relatives had problems with alcohol. i personally come from a family of alcoholics, and my mom, a recovered alcoholic of porbably thirty years (she’s 53 now.), has always talked about how my sister and i would probably have trouble with it if we ever tried drinking. anyways, what are the chances if my mother, her father, two of her three siblings, and her aunt (father’s sister), have all been alcoholics (and are all recovered or dead now)?
