Changes to the IMDb layout

Any time I visit almost any IMDb page, there is a trailer at the top of the. Even if it is an actor page (usually the trailer to the latest trailer to the project he or she has been involved in).

Up until recently, those only appeared on movie pages.

That trailer is usually accompanied by a logo saying “Sponsored”.

Sometimes it even just say “Sponsored” on the black background on the top of the page. And nothing happens when you click on it. Which I find odd. But it is usually acompanied by a trailer. Maybe it just says “Sponsored” when there is no trailer to be added, or it has trouble loading.

Anyone else noticed those changes recently? They seem especially evident on mobile, not so much on desktop. It’s not just me, true?

Not just you. They seem to be making an effort to be as annoying as possible.

At least they don’t use pop-ups. Yet.

Is the trailer playing? I just checked and I didn’t see anything on the homepage and going to a movie page, I saw a video listed as ‘trailer’, but it wasn’t playing.
It should be noted, however, that I’m running uBlock Origin and a pi-hole. Between the two, they get rid of the majority of ads.

Also, I wasn’t logged in, but in the past you could often log in and change it to ‘classic mode’ or something else along those lines.
These days, IMDB is so cluttered and their app is a PITA to use, that unless there’s something specific I’m looking for, I’ll use wiki.
