Here’s something that I’ve been wondering about for quite some time… Why is it that sigs sometimes change?
In this thread, Shayna’s post from May 5, 2000 has a sig which consists in part of a link to the SD people pages, which wasn’t created until July 11, 2000.
It isn’t the only time I’ve seen this, but it was the only one I could find right now.
What kind of odd quirk is this? Is there any explanation for this wierdness?
When you change your sig. the change happens to all your previous posts. Just like your post count changes every time you post.
I think the sigs. in the posts dating from before the software change a while ago remain as they are no-matter what you do but all other posts showing a sig. will show your new sig.
Yup, with UBB you could play cool games with your sig, but with vB, those glory days are gone forever.
At the time of the changeover (4/28 to about 5/15) there were plenty of threads here in ATMB discussing this. Look around.
Hi,
i wrote a sig and it always shows in edit profile, but never shows up with my messages.
Bye

Well, now we can play different cool games with our sigs. Anything that you could do with a UBB sig, you can still do in vB with a manual sig, but there’s also some other options that open up. For instance, I was out of town last weekend, and lest anyone worry about me (ok, so I’m not that important, but you get the idea), I put an “away” message into my sig during that period. That way, if anyone worried about me saw any of my posts, they’d know what was up. Of course, there’s also less benign aspects of the dynamic sigs, and I wouldn’t mind seeing them static again, but all of the techies assure us that this is impossible (or at least, prohibitively difficult).
