Why does your signature change retroactively? As in, why did my signature change on the 140 some-odd posts that I had written BEFORE I changed to a new signature?
To me, it seems like a few extra lines of needless code to add into the programming behind this message board. If I wanted that sig when I wrote a message three weeks ago, I’d have put it in then. Besides, if I wanted to make reference to a sig and then that sig changes, my entire post becomes irrelevant (not that most of my posts are relevant right now anyway).
And if there is a way, how do I get my original sig back on my posts!
Your sig is called from your member profile everytime a page loads with the vBulletin software. That’s why all posts update whenever you change sigs. And it actually requires less resources than maintaining a sig for each individual post. The old software (UBB) would hardcode each page and pull it from memory as required. The vB software does not do that; it regenerates each page from a database as required. Trust me, a changing sig is a small price to pay for the improved core functionality over the UBB software. Before we changed over back in April(?) this entire board would crash several times a day. I’m sorry, but as things stand right now, there’s no way to restore your old sigs.
