I’ve seen him in dozens of films. Usually playing the lead character’s best friend. Very likeable character on screen.

He lead quite a life and his work will be remembered for a long time. R.I.P.

Geoffrey Lewis, a longtime character actor who appeared in several Clint Eastwood movies and whose daughter was actress Juliette Lewis, died Tuesday at his California home. He was 79.

He was best known for his work with Eastwood in movies including “High Plains Drifter,” “Any Which Way You Can,” “Bronco Billy,” “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot,” “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” and “Pink Cadillac.”

Other notable screeen credits included “Maverick,” “The Devil’s Rejects,” “Double Impact,” “Heaven’s Gate” and the TV movie “Salem’s Lot.”
