Character/Novelty Toasters

I’ve been seeing these all over the place this year.

First I came across the Mickey Mouse version. Then I found a Winnie the Pooh. They both play music along with imprinting images on both sides of the bread. Which is really cool.

Last, there’s the Hello Kitty one. I’m assuming this type has been around longer, because perusing eBay for something similar has turned up many older, different (and cuter, to me – apologies to Scribble and all the other playa haters ;)) models. I haven’t truly checked them out, so I don’t have a clue whether they ‘sing’ or not. But I don’t know how much I could appreciate that first thing in the morning. Groan.

So, here’s my question… I have a friend who’d love one for Christmas, but I obviously couldn’t afford the regular retail price of $55 some odd and change. Even by auction, I think they range close to 30 bucks. Therefore, has anyone seen any knock-off brands? Cheap, cheap, cheap. Perhaps some with a simple smiley face logo. Or anything, just inexpensive for the person who loves neato gadgety stuff. If not, I’m positive it won’t be very long (next year maybe) when we’ll see something really close lining the shelves of Wal*Mart for $9.99, but until then, I’m open to suggestions. Any ideas y’all?

Thanks.

I swore Target had those on sale last week for 15 dollars. I saw the price from a distance and thought, hmmmm, maybe… then I forced myself to not look.

I went to their web site and it didn’t show any toasters. Actually, there were many things at my local Target that weren’t on the web site.

Try to hit a Target soon, I have a feeling they’re going to sell out fast.

Here’s a Dinosaur toaster. It’s not much cheaper though.

Thank you both. I have no doubt that there’s no way I’d beat the hoard of HKers to Target before they’ve all already gone. Plus, I liked the older styles anyway and they’re way too expensive for my wallet and my taste. Of course, since I wouldn’t be getting it for myself (hmmm), you’d think it wouldn’t matter.

And I adore the dinosaur one! That’s simply adorable. And unfortunately, still out of my price range. She may indeed have to wait until next year. Or the one after that. Then they’ll probably be all over the place with every kind of design imaginable.

Ah, to be patient.

No matter how desperate you get, do not buy one from Crapola Inc..

That thing’s mental. It wants you to eat toast all the time.
