Character paychecks

I was watching a show called ‘Dinner for Five’ last night. Five character actors shoot the shit for a half an hour, about anything and everything. Anyway, I’m choosing three of them for my inquiry, Danny Aielo, Delroy Lindo and John Favreau. Good character actors, all. Now, when these guys do a part in a movie, they certainly don’t get the big bucks of a major star. In fact, just the sum a major star usually gets is enough to quit the business, and live happily not working, for ever after. So, barring investments and real estate, lets say they all live check to check to survive. What kind of money does a good character pull in, per week, or per month. Anybody?

MODS…It’s a question, but, feel free to toss this to Cafe Society.

I don’t know the answer, and it’s an interesting question.

I will point out that Jon Favreau isn’t really a character actor like the other guys. He’s a midlevel to pretty big producer and director. For instance, he directed “Elf” which made $175 mil, so I’m sure he got enough out of that so he doesn’t really have to act anymore.

Screen Actors Guild union scale

Not an answer to your question since presumably any actor with any level of name recognition is going to, through an agent, negotiate a rate, but this will perhaps serve as a starting point for you.
