Charlie Weis: Your job is toast

One would expect, anyway.

Navy 46, Notre Dame 44

Mods, please correct the name in the thread title?

I love the smell of schadenfraude in the morning.

Triple overtime, Navy 46, ND 44. And the ballsiest two-point conversion call I think I’ve ever seen.

In a year of humiliations for Notre Dame, to lose to Navy for the first time in decades… the icing on the cake.

Now if this don’t make Weis quit and become the offensive coordinator for the Bears… nothing will.

I love watching nd lose. This has been a good year for that.

Just goes to prove my point, ND went steadily downhill after refusing to use Rudy.

Sucks to them. 4Evr

I hope this means that the team sucks without Quinn because he carried them… it means Quinn is pretty damn good.

I’m with you on that. I bet NBC is loving it too…

With 45 seconds left, in a tie game, ball at the Navy 23, 4th down and 8(!), and Weiss GOES for it instead of kicking the game winning FG??!!
Does ND not have a kicker capable of making a 40 yard field goal? Not even 25% of the time (which is what the odds probably were to make a first down there)??
That has to be the about dumbest thing i have ever seen in football, if I were a ND fan I would be livid, 1-7 record aside, that blew a 40 some odd winning streak against Navy.

But look on the bright side, I think the NCAA rules require Notre Dame to go to a BCS Bowl no matter what their record is so it doesn’t matter how many games you lose.

Funny, I was thinking that very thing even as he was doing it. :smack:

I can’t see him getting fired this year, because he just signed a huge deal, and it would cost too much to can him. But if he told them he watned to leave, I don’t see them stopping him. And at lteast part of the blame should go to the schedule maker- there’s not one bad team on their schedule, except Duke.

How many years had it been since ND lost to Navy? 40? 45?

If Weis is not fired, will the controversy over the Ty Willingham firing become a story again?

Is there any justification for going for it on fourth? Was something wrong with their kicker?

The kicker isn’t very good, he’s only 1 for 3 from beyond forty. Heck, he only has 1 attempt from 30-39 and he missed that one so I guess Chuck figured he wanted to get him a little closer.

I dunno, if he makes it he looks like a genius, but right now he looks like a schmuck. I would’ve given it a shot.

Actually, the last 2 minutes or so, it looked like both teams wanted despretly to give it away. I was a bit dumbfounded (moreso than usual) over some of the decisions and play calling.

But it all came out allright. Except for that F’ing LSU win. Disparaging. They DO NOT deserve to be #3.

Your job is toast.

You think I’m scared by internet rumormongers who don’t know the difference between your and you’re?
</Charlie Weis>

I’m sure I was not alone in firing off a Nelson Muntz “Ha-ha!” after seeing Navy come out on top while I was watching actual college football on a different station.

Yeah, yeah. Obviously I was more interested in the loss than I’d like to think. :smack:

As a Blue Hen fan, I’d like to point out that one week ago, Delaware (I-AA) beat Navy (I-A) with a final score of 59-52. This says to me that on a good week, Notre Dame would lose to the University of Delaware. Since Delaware is 8-1 this season and looking like a decent shot for the I-AA tournament, maybe Notre Dame would like to play against the Ass Kickin’ Chickens in a bowl game? At least it has a chance of not being yet another embarrassing defeat… go Hens!
