I was only half-joking with the ride part. I live off exit 36 and have a habit of getting horribly lost while driving in unfamiliar cities. Is there anyone else who lives north of the city that would want to carpool? I’d cover gas if you would drive!
**herownself, ** we’d love to have you, but I have to ask: do you mean Richmond, VA? If so, you know you’re looking at at about a 5 hour trip. That doesn’t sound like so much fun if you’re recovering from back surgery.
MissMossie, I’m afraid I can’t provide a ride, but I can provide very clear and easy directions if you want. Hope you can make it!
Google maps is showing a Richmond, NC just north of Rockingham, but it doesn’t even rate a marker in my Road Atlas. I’m thinking herownself is thinking of Charlottesville, VA, rather than Charlotte, NC.
O’shea’s should be very easy to find. If I’m counting right, it’s only two turns off the 485.
I thought the same thing about Charlottesville, but I did not know there was a Richmond, NC. I know Richmond County, but not the town.
Richmond County. That’s what Google maps was pointing to. Sheesh - You’d think I’d look one centimeter to the left in the road atlas.
Yay! I’ve been known to show up ludicrously late for events on account of my bad sense of direction.
Directions to O’Sheas Irish Pub – Charlotte

For those coming from the North (the resta y’all can adapt…):
• I-77 South to Exit 2 (I-485)
• At Exit 2, take the ramp for I-485 East towards Matthews (you’ll be going back up and over I-77)
• Take I-485 to Exit 59 (Rea Rd.)
• Make a right at the traffic light at the end of the exit ramp onto Rea Rd. (Stonecrest shopping center will be on your right)
• On Rea Rd., make a LEFT at the 6th traffic light onto Ardrey Kell Rd.
• Go about 1 mile on Ardrey Kell and look for “The Fountains” shopping center on the right. Oshea’s is in this shopping center, to the left of the entrance.
Put Seren and I in the “Possibly” column.
Excellent!
I’m still game for This Saturday, but I’ll be along at around 8. The two house monkeys are getting to be a handful at bedtime, and Mrs. Magill has politely requested assistance putting them down.
Ok, so how do we know/find each other? It’s not a big place and will get rather crowded on a Saturday night.
If it’s warm, there’s plenty of space outside. Otherwise, there are three large circular tables in each corner. I think a courtesy call might be in order. They could set aside enough seats for eight to ten folks.
Southern Yankee were you planning on arriving first? We could let the hostess know we’re either the Cecil Adams party or the Doper party.
I expect to get there around 6:00. I’ll try and snag a table if one is available. On a Saturday night I’m not sure how willing they’d be to hold a table for us, even as a large group, but it can’t hurt to ask.
I’ll think of some kind of sign to leave on the table so people will find us. I’ll post it once I think of something.
No - I’m in Richmond, VA and I know where the gathering is being held. You have no idea how bored I am at the moment.
But I guess I’ll pass.
herownself, we by no means were trying to discourage you. As I said before, we’d love to have you.
Late (regretful) development: Nawth Chucka and I will not be able to make it. . .
:smack:
But, we’ll be watching this thread. If at the last minute we can make it, we’ll let y’all know.
Tripler
Man, I’m bummed. . .
That’s too bad, Tripler. We’ll have a drink for ya…
Let’s get a quick roll call of who is still coming, and roughly when you think you’ll arrive:
Southern Yankee: 6:00
I’m making every attempt to be there, but one of our managers had emergency surgery this morning for a MRSA infection! If he can’t work Saturday, I’ll have to be here.
I probably won’t know for sure until mid afternoon tomorrow. For now count me in. I’ll let you know how the situation develops.
Waaaaaaaaaa! :
: ::sniff::
I can’t go! They are keeping him in the hospital till Sunday.
I’m so sorry guys. I want to be there.
