I’m 10883, if anyone is keeping track for some reason. Paying for the membership is worth it to keep the ads away, and this is good cheap entertainment, especially the occasional truly marvelous rant in the Pit.
I’m one. I no longer post much, though; the older I get, the less I’m compelled to share, and the more I realize that no one gives a fig about the minute details of my life. Lurked on the AOL boards, joined here in 2001 when I was 17.
Whenever I’m looking for a good table at a nice restaurant, I let it casually slip that I just so happen to be a Charter Member at the SDMB, then get seated next to the bathrooms.
I was one, but left the board for a while which caused the charter membership to lapse. The leaving may have become permanent but I received a PM from a member asking me where I went as they missed my posts. I came back and access to the boards still worked so I just continued as a guest since then.
Well, you beat me but I’m still happy with my #199
As others said, I lost my Charter Membership before from a lapsed payment and, by the time they got around to offering “Regain your Charter Membership” about a year later, I’d stopped caring (and subscribing). If there’d been a grace period at the time when I was actually a little sad, I likely would have taken it.
Not sure when I first started reading, but didn’t join up until 2002 when I needed to do a search. The pennies I spend on re-upping my CM are well worth it if it keeps the board hamster free.
#32862; my Freshman year of college, when I finally had internet worth a damn. The CM is worth it for the annual enjoyment of the fantasy baseball league alone - the other several hundred hours of entertainment are a bonus.
