Yeah and if you have something happen at home or with your boss, don’t come here to talk about it. If it doesn’t involve us, we don’t care!! And in MPSIMS, if it doesn’t relate to other dopers and stuff that is happening on the board TAKE IT TO EMAIL.
Um… wait… having the board just be about the board would pretty much suck.
You raise a good point, Opal, but it’s true that if you weren’t there for the incident in question, it’s frustrating and confusing to get a read on what happened.
I’m not one to publicly take sides (or post much in the pit, period), but often I read stuff like this, and I am curious as to exactly what happened.
I’m with Opal on this one, as I told TGIF in my post on that thread.
“Marina Sirtis is a complete idiot”? I don’t even know who in the hell Marina Sirtis is.
“Here’s to you, US Magazine”? Don’t read it… never read it… never will read it.
“Scott Hamilton isn’t so great”? I know he’s some skater from ages past, but I wouldn’t know him if he mugged me in an alleyway.
The whole Cuban thing? I don’t know much about immigration laws or much besides what the media has told me about it, so stop talking about that as well.
I’m not a professor, so don’t talk about your students on this board.
Ok, ok… so I think I’ve made my point. If you don’t know anything about chat or whatever, then don’t worry about the specifics of it. Doper meetings don’t occur on this board, yet they get discussed here all the time. If you have questions, then go ask – I thought I had done a pretty good job of explaining what had happened from the technical point of view, and anyone can read and see what the gripe was about Silo, so what else is there to ask about?
True enough, Csdave in that it doesn’t really help the board. I will admit that if there’s any proper place on the Board to bitch about it though, it’s in the Pit. There’s plenty of other posts in here about Person A thinking Person B sucks and this is much the same thing, except that Person A learned about Person B sucking on a different format than the SDMB.
That said, I’ve tried to stay out of the Silo part of the #SD complaints. Personally, I hope that those who don’t like a user – any user – learn how to use “/ignore” so they simply don’t have to know that user is there, nor hear from him. Likewise, I hope Tech returns, MrCynical realizes that DALnet is the work of Satan, and that everything is kosher once more.
