The Straight Dope does not currently host a chat room, although it is something we have done in the past and are considering doing again. I’m going to move this thread to the “About This Message Board” forum for further discussion.
Although there is no offical, Reader-sanctioned bona fide Straight Dope chat room, there is a channel on the Undernet IRC servers called #StraightDope where many of the regs from this board meet. No one from this board’s administartion has anything to do with it, we’re not connected except by common users and I think I’ve successfully distanced it from the SDMB enough to make the admins here happy 
That said… IRC Undernet servers, #StraightDope, busy times are generally 8:00pm-3:00am CST but you’re welcome in anytime. Good luck and God bless.
