Kai & Hyundia’s are cheap. As are Geo Metros.
www.edmunds.com has price lists.

Hey, if you are lucky, you might have a Toyota factory near you. We have one about 60 miles north. I wonder if its cheaper to buy directly?

Don’t buy a Kia. I’ve heard horror stories.

Geo Metros are just less glamourous versions of Toyota Tercels. It’s good little car. My friend bought one used and has never had any problems.

A little persistance goes a long way. Announcing:

“I go on guilt trips a couple of time a year. Mom books them for me.” A custom made Wally .sig!

Hyundai Accents and Toyota Echos both retail for under $10 grand. The Hyundais come with 10 year/100,000 mile warranties.

“My hovercraft is full of eels.”

The problem is that there will be this mythical “cheap car”, but every one on the lot will have $5000 worth of add-ons and when you suggest that you don’t want to pay for auto-locks and key-fobs and a stereo it will become almost unbearably difficult to get such a car.

How cheap is cheap? I just got a fully loaded Honda Civic EX for 15,800. You could get a Civic DX, basic model, for about 12,500.

As someone else mentioned, Hyundais (sp?) come pretty cheap. The Tiburon is really sporty looking too.

You know you are a vet nurse when: it’s 4 AM and you are out of creamer for your coffee, so you use kitten milk replacer instead.

Ack! Don’t get a Hyundai. I had one for 2 weeks (it was a rental) and it was the absolute pits.

Why don’t you look at www.edmunds.com? They have a lot of good information.

Chief, if you’re going to get a car, look at the difference in price between a brand new one and one that is one year old. You’ll be very surprised.

I ask not what you can do for me, but what you can do for me right now.

I bought a 1998 Jeep Wrangler about 2 months ago. I love it, but with my trade-in, it costs me $12,000. Ugh. Well it’s worth it though.

www.carprices.com is a good website too.

Or you could consider buying a demo car. Cheaper than buying brand new but I have heard that it still comes with a new car warranty.

car rental agencies sell their cars usually at 25000 miles, at quite a saving really.

Plus, you can rent them first to see if you like them. I would I have rented a lot of the new cars & they just don’t fit.

For example I got a small NEW car, I forgot what model it was, for $22.00 day. Drove it around to LA & back. But I thought there wasn’t enough space for the driver. I asked the Enterprise guy on the way back [you know, they do pick you up as long as you are close enough] how much it wold be sold for as it was getting beyond 25000 miles & he said about $5,000. Which is quite a savings, like $4000.
