Check in here if you are working on Christmas

Yup, I’m here all evening. 24/7 operations - somebody has to work and my mere 24+ years of seniority ain’t nothing around here ;). But I’m used to working most major holidays and they do pay me a pretty penny or two extra for sticking around.

I work every day, but at least I don’t have any set hours.

I had a short workday, from 6-11 AM. Then I came home, put on pajamas, watched a movie, and took a nap, so I feel like it’s the next day now. Very confusing.

Yep, Christmas Eve and Christmas…nights… 12 hour nights.

Producing C.R.A.P. ( That’s Clean Reliable Affordable Power) so everyone else can have lights to enjoy their Christmas with.

I’ve been dealing with some health issues through the year and put off certain “low priority” things, like continuing education.

So… I find myself at this moment with 57 hours of CPE that has to be completed by the 31st.

On to the next module now, bye.

Scientist here… I had some free hours yesterday afternoon, so I went to the lab and worked on a manuscript.

I’m a teacher but my first break since September is in March. I can’t wait. I gave several cards to colleagues but no-one had given any to anyone, so I got none in return. Even though I live in Riyadh some Christmas traditions were kept, and this morning a have a well-developing headache

Across the country, my daughter was working at Animal Kingdom in Disney World - and she reported today at 6:30, too. Her real job is a middle school teacher, but on breaks, she does time with The Mouse.

Oh, I can save you a trip and give you an answer: Not. Nearly. Enough.

Not working but couldn’t resist repeating a bizarre conversation I heard about this the other day:

“…so they made all the Jews work on Christmas, and all the regular people had to work on Hanukah.”

“Yeah, did you know that technically Hanukah isn’t Christmas?”

Technical support for the leading hotel software… hotels never sleep!

Worked a full day the 24th, 25th, and 26th. Folks gotta get where they’re wantin’ to go.

Enjoyed Boston Market’s take on XMas dinner catered by the airline while passing through a hub. They fed a lot of our workers that day. Had a nice, albeit brief, reunion with a dozen longtime co-workers / friends.

The weather was nice at my latitude, though it was turbulent all 3 days damn near from coast to coast.

We did have some unusually elderly / decrepit travelers making perhaps their last family pilgrimage. The good news is nobody died on me, as happened one memorable holiday season years ago.

I’m a cashier in a discount store owned by Hassidic Jews. Being closed on the Jewish Sabbath and major holidays allows us to skirt the local blue laws.

This week I worked from opening to closing all seven days. Christmas is entirely voluntary, and I had one other cashier for seven of the eleven hours we were opened, plus the Jewish manager and some floor people.

The assistant manager is a Mexican named “Jesus” (pronounced Hey, Zeus). When the manager announced he was here, I said “Jesus is here?” (pronouncing it Jee-zus). The manager repeated “Jesus is here” and then said “The sun is out.” He was looking out the window and commenting on the weather, but my mind here “Jesus is here. The Son is out.” It totally went over his yamaka, but when I pointed it out to him, we had a good laugh.
