Check in here if you are working on Christmas

Head of security at a trucking facility. As I like to put it, I go to work on Christmas so that the thieves can take the holiday off to be with their families. I’m the only one here except for the (very) occasional trucker coming in to drop off the rig and go home to the family. Got the radio turned up, the newest Pendergast novel at hand and breakfast pizza to snack on.

I’m doing my thing on my oil rig - just another day, albeit with Turkey and Ham.

I’m not working, but my two sisters are. They both work in hospitals, so somebody has to be there.

Fuse Tender First Class for the USPS, just sitting here with a couple other guys, waiting for something to break so we can ruin somebody’s Christmas and make them go into the office and fix it.

What does a “Fuse Tender” do?

I haven’t “worked” at a job-type thing since 2000 but I spend most of my days every day doing what I’m doing now, with a large percentage of the time right here at SDMB. My record speaks for itself.

Merry Christmas, All!

He tends fuses.

Most likely, a reference to Our Hero Bill.

Not a full day, but I’ll be popping into the office in a little while, just to update one of the ads on our LED billboard. I work in marketing (copy writing, graphic design, animation) for an ophthalmology practice.

I wait for something to break, and then I try to fix it. If I can’t, I toss the issue over the fence to somebody who can. And, yes, it’s a Bill the Galactic Hero reference.

I’m not working at an official job, but I’m doing some work on music arrangements today. Gotta have that Christmas music arranged for next year’s season.

Medical transcriptionist here… care plans gotta get on the charts, even on Christmas. I’ve worked in various positions in patient care areas of hospitals for a decade and this is my first Christmas Day, so I figure I’m due… Usually I work on site (mostly I edit other MTs’ notes and the “old fart” docs will send corrections on pieces of paper) but I’m at home today, so that’s nice… I did half my day before my teens woke up! :0)

I work from home answering the phones - customer service kind of thing.
I will be working my regular hours but I expect few calls.

Christmas is work.

Festivus doesn’t clean up after itself, you know

My daughter left early this morning for her job at Disneyland. The “happiest place on earth” never closes. Promises to be packed today.

Just need to pop into the lab to check how many mosquitoes are dead (longevity experiment).

We had tickets for Into the Woods, which I bought online from “Fandango.” We went to the theater, only to discover that there’s no mention of it on the marquee, and the girl at the window knew nothing about it. It’s playing at another theater, in the opposite direction, but my partner just wanted to go home (He gets that way when plans fall through).

So I figure, as long as I’m home I might as well do some work. Maybe get some Chinese carry-out later.

Half way through a 12-hr shift.

Been trying to teach myself how to tie a bowtie while waiting for the shift to end…and came close to having to call 911 twice.

I work at home for various companies doing multiple kinds of work including web writing. One of them offered a full day with overtime so I jumped at it. We’re off to our Jewish Christmas of Chinese food in a few minutes.
