For the last year or so I’ve been doing a show called Spaceship of Fools on a local radio station. (It’s a non-commercial station affiliated with Appalshop, an art and cultural center.) It’s every other Tuesday from 8-11 PM, and the next show is tonight (1/23)!
I mostly play new and independent music, but I always say that I only play one kind of music on the show–the good kind. Tonight I’ll be featuring a bunch of 2007 releases, including new ones from The Shins, Of Montreal, the Apples in Stereo, and the Six Parts Seven.
I also have a feature called Three Songs, where a guest gives me three songs to play and then joins me by phone to talk about them. My guest tonight will be the Watson Twins (or, more likely, one of the Watson Twins), who blew out of the gate in 2006 with two great releases: their EP Southern Manners, and their collaboration with Jenny Lewis, Rabbit Fur Coat. That will happen around 9PM, EST.
The station streams online here, so check it out! Tonight from 8PM-11PM Eastern. If you’re listening, drop me a line at spaceshipoffools at gmail dot com.
(Note: I wasn’t sure if a plug like this was kosher, so I cleared this ahead of time with Tubadiva.)
