I stumbled upon this today and thought it would be right up the alley of some of the board’s readership. Former programmer by the name of Joel Allen labors days, nights and weekends after work to build this secluded and very cool looking tree house in the Canadian woods. Be sure to check out “The Story” section on the website too. The story behind Allen’s tree house and the adventures he had before and while building it is well-written and makes for an enjoyable and interesting read.
He built a really creative design. This guy needs to go into building and design full time.
It wouldn’t be that hard for locals to find the Hemloft. Theres hikers and hunters in the woods all the time. Kids often go out in the woods to play or just get away from mom and dad. I hope the government doesn’t make him tear it down.
I recall at about age 12 that I borrowed a nice rope from my dad. Hung it in a tree in some woods near my neighborhood. Thinking I could climb it, swing etc. Somebody stole it within a couple days. I was in some serious trouble when dad found out.
It looks like the Great Glass Wonkavator!

I noticed in several pictures that he left a inch or two gap in the siding boards. Gives a really cool effect in the night photo with light from inside the hemloft.
Strictly a warm weather place to enjoy. Like a gazebo in the backyard.
Yeah, I think the idea was that Allen (and later his girlfriend, once she appeared) would stay in it a couple months during the summer.
In going back to the site I noticed that I linked to the photo page rather than to the main site, which has a cooler photos and I think gives a bit more interesting visual and textual introduction to Allen and his tree house than does the photo page. I should have linked to the opening page here.
