Cheech & Chong, still smokin'

Wow, man. This is really heavy. A New Comedy Tour will reunite Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong after a 25-year separation.

I’ve never seen them perform live, but I spent many happy hours listening to their records and watching their movies in the good old days, and I wish them well. Hey, dude, don’t Bogart that. Pass it on over here.

Cool. I hope they do another movie. I think they could wring something out of revisiting those original movie characters all these years later. I wouldn’t mind seeing Cousin Red again either.

I’m hoping the tour comes to San Diego… I’ll go!

“Dave’s not here Man.”

San Diego is on the list: November 28 at Copley Symphony Hall, according to the tour schedule.

We saw Tommy Chong and his wife recently. He’s still a huge stoner, and still very funny.

I’d love to see them together! They’re in Houston on Friday, Oct 31.

My husband is gonna freak when I tell him!

I’m really pleased that Cheech and Chong have managed to patch up their relationship. Tommy Chong got royally fucked by that ludicrous bong selling conviction. He was made an example by some asinine modern day witch hunt. I hope the tour does fantastically well.

I was wondering about this the other day, before the news broke. There’s been an upswing in stoner humor lately, with Knocked Up and (presuming it does well) Pineapple Express. Half Baked still has a cult audience, so why not Cheech and Chong again? I’m sure they’ll do well enough, and if they can draw people outside of the nostalgia factor this could be a good time for them.

Holy shit, this will sell out in a matter of seconds. Hopefully it still “clicks” for them and this becomes a regular thing again.

I have heard–no cite available–that if you’re ever on a game show where you team up with celebrities, the ones you want on your team are David Duchovny and Cheech Marin.

The ones to avoid are Gillian Anderson and Tommy Chong.

Cheech should take Bill Murray’s example: Avoid former comedy partners and try to work with new, quirky up-and-coming directors.

Well, Cheech did extremely well on Celebrity Jeopardy. I’ve never seen Tommy Chong try to do a game show, but he strikes me as a fairly intelligent guy, when he’s not in character.

Very excited to see them back together. I loved the old movies for their comedic simplicity and willingness to poke fun at stoners.

You heard correctly. I’m pretty sure they’re 1-2 as the smartest men in Hollywood. I’m pretty sure they’ve both cleaned up on Celebrity Jeopardy at least once.

And of course, Geena “MENSA” Davis reigns as the queen smarty in Hollywood.
