cheekily asked for the company to pay for £700 worth of software and the boss agreed

Now how to get him to honour the agreement without seeming cheeky again…

I told him I could do something for him if had the ‘pro version’ of Borland C++ Builder because it has database capabilities (which is true) but it costs between six and seven hundred pounds. He said “600 is better than 10,000 to get it done by another company” Then he told our MD that I should have the software (for my own personal home computer this is)

Same MD is teaming with me (his excel skills, my hub, SQL skills) on a project… working one-on-one with the big-cheese… that’s something. Just hope I can deal with some personal issues I have with another staff member so that I can concentrate on impressing big cheeses.

Hmm. Make sure you do a bit of research and get the right version. We use Delphi 2005, and it’s fairly prone to crashing when opening complex datamodules, installing certain packages, doing any debugging.

Delphi 2006 is supposed to be waaaaay better.
