Cheerful thoughts for Spring

In recognition of the Vernal Equinox (3/20/01):
“The atom bombs are piling up in the factories, the police are prowing the cities, the lies are streaming from the loudspeakers, but the earth is still going round the sun, and neither the dictators nor the bureacrats, as deeply as they disapprove of the process, are able to prevent it.”

                                      George Orwell

Well. That would be my idea of a cheerful thought for spring. Anybody else?

Happy Spring everybody!

‘The Dodgers lead all teams in turning double plays this spring’. Opening day is less than 2 weeks away.:D:D:D:D:D
Play Ball!!!

It’s snowing here. We have over an inch already. Woo hoo. Spring.

There are Canada geese honking their butts off outside my bedroom window, but this time, they’re going north instead of south. And there are largish patches of bare dirt. And the temperature is in the 40s all week.

We have rain in central Florida! Lots and lots of it! The ground is wet and the plants are turning green again and the fire index chart is turning from bright red (800 - really bad) to dull orange (near 600 - moderate) and the retention ponds are filling up again. Goodygoodygoodygoody!

Then again, remind me in a couple of weeks when hurricane season starts how happy I was to see rain.

::sing song voice::
I saw a robin, I saw a robin! Spring is officially here.

My bulbs are forcing their little heads up out of the frozen ground.

I was able to work outside the other night without a coat on.

Our furnace isn’t turning on so much!

Mud in the driveway instead of ice.

Red-wing blackbirds singing in the swamps.

It’s coming!

Kerry Wood is going to pitch opening day for the Cubs!

And I’m going to be there!

And he’s going to fall in love with me…

And we’ll be clandestine lovers!

Baseball is coming! My fantasies begin!
