Clearly there’s a bit of monkey business going on here.
Well done, Eve!
UT
You, sir, are a true master.
I got a call from the *Telegraph *in London, too–I seem to be the dead-chimp quote woman of the hour!
A story about a chimpanzee dying is not all that interesting. A story about erroneous chimp obituaries and mistaken chimp identity is much more entertaining. Thanks to CalMeacham and Eve!
Nothing special, he just aped her article.
Now, **Cal **is not only my good friend, he’s my prime mate! A ba boon to this board.
Kreegah!
Kong will never die.
And it’s unpaid - all pro bonobo.
The *NBC Nightly News *just reported the story straight: 80-year-old movie-star chimp dead.
Oh, Brian Williams, am I going to have to come to your office with a paddle and teach you a lesson?
Well at least he Cheeta’d death for a lot longer than most chimps.
<ducking and running out of this thread>
Uh … may I watch?
Whether or not this was the famous chimp, a long lived animal is dead and I don’t think we should pan him for claims not made by him. What are we, troglodytes?
Or just his career?
Will I sound like an idiot if I ask why the ape was called Cheetah?
I saw that… but wasn’t it Lester Holt?
I did tell my wife watching with me that no, NBC News is wrong because, as referenced in a dope thread, what really happened was…
If I am going to paddle a naughty boy at NBC, it is *going *to be Brian Williams.
“Chita” was the way it was spelled originally in the 1930s. The homophonous connection with the cat is coincidental. These latter day Cheeta(h)-namers probably picked the feline spelling so as not to be construed as a slight against the aforementioned Chita Rivera.
He was a FRIEND OF MINE!
In the books it was “Nikima”.
