Chelsea Clinton.

Am I wrong in recalling that certain elements of the American body politic considered the young teenage daughter of the President fair game for insult? John McCain certainly brought the teenage Chelsea into politicking. What a hero! Can anyone remind me what his joke was?

I recall the bombastic buffoon (Rush limp paw), making a derogatory comment about her looks when she was the first daughter.

[QUOTE=A.R. Cane]
There may be a reason for that:

Heck, this guy sees plastic surgery in pictures of cartoon animals. He thinks he can tell when someone has surgery by looking at a scowling picture versus and smiling picture. I’m not sure if you were serious with that link, but that site is a joke.

It does look to me like she probably had some work done on her gums.

Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?

Her father is Janet Reno.

Wow, that is a little crude.

For one thing, it presumes that Ms. Clinton is ugly. She’s not.
For another, it would be a crude thing to say even if she were ugly.

Apparently, there is such a thing as gingiplasty, but I can’t in a million years imagine any young woman standing in front of a mirror and focusing on her gums as her problem area.

I’m with the folks who think it looks like she’s just straightened and lightened her hair, and maybe switched from teeny-bopper lip gloss to matte lipstick.

I kinda liked the old (younger) Chelsea better anyway. She had that “I’m not afraid to be interesting” look, IMO.

John Kerry’s stepsons are of the right age.

Heirs to the Heinz money too.

Hehe, she really got the one up on Limbaugh, who once referred to her as “the Clinton family dog”. Look at Rush now, in comparison to Chelsea.

I’ll willingly look at Ms Clinton, but Rush . . . I’ll pass. (To quote Sheridan Whiteside in The Man Who Came to Dinner, “I may vomit.”)

You can’t? I don’t find it outrageous, nor do I think there is anything wrong with it either. I agree that the biggest change is to her her hair and she looks very good.

Cite please and what was the occasion? Was it in a political situation or an appearance on a comedy show?

I find this story both difficult to believe and if it is true, I seriously wonder about the context.

You don’t know how badly I wanted to refute the story. So I googled.

Sigh

http://www.salon.com/news/1998/06/25newsb.html

It was at a 1998 Republican fundraiser, and subsequently McCain apologized to Pres. Clinton, who did accept the apology.

Whew! That was painful.

I probably can’t imagine it because I’m a dental-phobic. Voluntary gum surgery?!?!

Well that sucks and its speaks poorly of McCain. It was also in the worst possible context to me, pandering back when he still had my complete respect. He lost a lot of my respect for him over the last 7 years. Not all, but far too much.

Jim

I think she’s probably had her nose thinned. I doubt she’s had anything done to her gums, that seems a bit crazy.

Edit to add: McCain is the biggest asshole currently seeking the Repub nomination, and that’s saying a lot.

I used to have a really really gummy smile. When I smiled, all you could see were my top gums. I hated it, I had a lot of other problem areas, but I definitely didn’t like the gummy smile. I spent a lot of high school hiding smiles behind my hand.

As part of some extensive jaw surgery I had back in 99, my upper palate was raised (my lower jaw was also brought forward and my upper palate was widened).

The surgery was intended to correct my bite (my teeth didn’t meet correctly) and the gum issue was corrected as almost a side effect. Now when I smile - two rows of pearly white teeth, I love it.

Not to say that Chelsea Clinton had similar surgery, but it’s not an unreasonable improvement enhancing operation.
