I guess I’m an ass, because I don’t feel sorry for him at all. I feel worse for the injured people on both sides of the fiasco he helped start that don’t have adequate medical care. So, in other words, fuck Cheney. If that makes me a dick, so be it.
Same here. He’s on a very short list with people like Charles Manson and Osama bin Laden whose ill fortune I just can’t feel sympathy for because he deserves every bit and many times more for the lives his actions directly ended or otherwise ruined.
On a completely different note, if Cheney or anybody else with that device were to die, I wonder what differences there would be in the corpse. They’re not breathing but the blood is continuing to circulate, so I imagine they’ll stay warmer and have less lividity for at least a while.
As low as that is (if you believe it), it’s still not as bad as wanting someone to suffer just for the hell of it. Who’s worse, a guy who shoots you for your wallet, or a guy who shoots you just to watch you die?

I just find actually hating people until you actually want them to die to be barbaric. But, admittedly, in this case, it’s a harmless barbarism.
I don’t want him to die. I don’t particularly not want him to die. I rarely think about the issue. Neither can I say I hate him- I don’t know him, though I do believe he’s a criminal with a bloodstained soul if souls exist, and I don’t feel sorry for him that he’s dying because he does not, imo, deserve the same compassion I would give even to a stranger; that’s different from hating him to the point of wanting him to die.
Let me put it this way: wishing that Cheney had died before he took office is defensible, in the sense that he wouldn’t have been able to do his evil deeds.
Wanting him to suffer and die now, when he no longer has any influence, is nothing but coldblooded revenge. Don’t you think that very same kind of thinking was at least partly responsible for the Iraq invasion and some of the other excesses of Bush-Cheney?

In any case, what’s to feel sorry about the man any way? He should be dead, he’s lucky that just now new technology is available to keep him alive. Most people in his same situation would be buried by now.
Once again he got away with it, he dodged Vietnam, avoided facing responsibility for being instrumental in waging a war of aggression, and now he cheated death.
