On a serious note, would Cheney saying “sorry” (especially in public) equate to an admission of liability in court, potentially opening him up for damages claims?
I know here in the UK you’re never supposed to say “sorry” after a car accident, or an accident at work, as it can be viewed as acceptable of fault.
I guess when you are instrumental in starting a war from lies and the thousands of unnecessary deaths that result, peppering one guy with bird-shot isn’t going to weigh very heavily on the conscience.
I can’t believe it took over 50 posts for someone to make this response in a Pit thread. Hell, it happens a lot sooner in even non-related threads. Good thing I didn’t put money on this one.
It’s funny to see people still bringing up the ‘they lied to get us to war’ meme. I supposed any day now Obama et al will be having a press conference saying something like "We now have access to all of the information, meeting notes and memos from the previous administration and can conclusively state that, indeed, they lied to get us into the war in Iraq. We’ll be releasing the information to the public tomorrow.
Also, if you guys would REALLY like to know who shot JFK, let me tell you…"
Since I’m guessing that ain’t gonna happen (no war crimes trials or any of the other lefty fantasy stuff either I’m thinkin’), I guess this will be one of those things that just keeps getting tossed out from time to time.
My lefty fantasy isn’t seeing our public officials charged with war crimes. My lefty fantasy is public officials who don’t deserve to be. That’ll do nicely.
Yeah, I totally forgot when my friend’s husband was killed in the war while she was pregnant. Gosh, good thing you reminded me, otherwise when we go out tomorrow I may have said something rude! Thanks a bunch!
