Chicago baseball statues

So, I go into my office building this morning (311 S. Wacker), and there’s a statue there with LA Dodgers markings. I look across the street at the Sears Tower, and it appears there is a similar statue there with different markings (appears to be the Mets).

I suspect that these statues are this year’s cows, given that a) they are appearing in what would be summertime if it ever bothers to warm up, b) Chicago is hosting the All-Star Game this year, and c) the Field Museum has a baseball exhibit.

My bride-elect is a huge baseball fan, as are her parents, who are coming next weekend to visit. Does anyone know if there has been a press release or something similar on this, and, if so, is there a map of the different statues? We might want to do a walking tour.

Thanks in advance!

There are going to be 35 6ft bobblehead dolls around the downtown area.

Hmm, I’m in the Merchandise Mart, I’ll check outside and see if there are any there at lunchtime.

I thought this was going to be about the shrine to Harry at Gate D at Wrigley Field and perhaps someone had done something amusing to it:)

There’s a STL Cardinal statue on Michigan Avenue. I was walking with my boyfriend a few days ago (after dropping three to the Cards earlier in the week) and he thought it was left there as a prank by some Cards fans. Later we were walking near Northwestern station and there is a Cleveland Indian.

If they are this year’s cows, they certainly show a lot less imagination. The Indian’s baseball bat, however, is made out of a guitar…the clever powers that be remembered that the only other thing worth knowing about Cleveland is that it houses the Rock and Roll Museum.
