I’ve seen the term Chick Tract or Jack Chick Tract around the boards recently. I have no idea what these are. Would someone care to explain them to me? It would be much appreciated.
They are batshit insane fundie Christian pamphlets. Reading them makes my eyes bleed.
Darlin’, is it even possible that you are not familiar with Google? Or at least the search function on the SDMB? I googled “Chick Tract” and the first item is http://www.chick.com/. Please try not to waste time and space with dumb questions. I don’t want to sound mean but 2 seconds of research on your part would have answered this question.
Yes I am very familiar with google and not above doing my own research but have you ever noticed that it’s more fun to ask people rather than a computer?Aren’t these boards for having some fun on the net? Back to the matter at foot, iggy, searching for Jack Chick in the BBQ Pit will probably return a dozen or more threads in which people take great delight in deconstructing the tracts and riffing in general on their subjects. They’re great fun, and I recommend them.
I didn’t think it was a dumb question at all. It was something I’d been curious about.

a) go to Google and get 1,000,000 hits, 999,999 may conceivably be ads or just wrong?
or
b) come here, get anywhere from 5-20 links which probably directly relate, with opinions and facts interspersed, and mostly states as such.

I’ve kind of been wondering what it’s all about myself, and until days like today with not much to do, hadn’t had a lot of time to read up on it. I could google, too, but the REASON I like it here is for some amusing and witty takes on things such as this. I google for things that require multiple sites in order to find the right thing. This thread is already way more interesting. I’m amused.
