I’m Looking for a Good tasting Chicken Fried Steak from a box. Something I can slip into the oven and enjoy.
Does such a thing exist?
Marie Callender’s is pretty good. Still not as crispy as I prefer. Plus they only sell it as a tv dinner meal.

Any Brand recommendations for Frozen Chicken Fried Steaks? Maybe from Sams Club?
I’ve been seriously thinking of trying these. But they are very pricey.

At least they are real steaks and not chopped hamburger patties.
I think these might be as good as Cracker Barrels Chicken Fried Steak restaurant dinner.
Someone must love chicken fried steak. Am I the only one?
Well, I’ve had it in a couple of restaurants and I sure liked it, but it’s not something I’d eat very often! I’m sure I’ve seen frozen chicken fried steak in Walmart frozen foods, can’t say how good it is or if they carry it in every store.
I do. It’s one of those meals I just can’t really get tired of. Chicken fried steak is my death row meal in fact. With mashed taters and fried okra and biscuits on the side.
I reckon marie callendar’s edges out HungryMan as the best tv country fried steak on the market. That I’ve had at least. That being said however, it’s pretty godawful. There are 20 other microwave meals I’d rather, and do, eat before I have one of those.
I ain’t trying to be a snob mind. I meant what I said, there are a bunch of microwave meals I do actually like. I just think that boxed CFS meals, while plenty edible, are at the bottom rung. YMMV, of course.
Chicken fried steak was the one dish I always begged my grandmother to do. She used a glass soda bottle to pound & tenderize the meat.
I’ve made it myself many times. Just like this.
But it’s so messy to cook. Especially when you only want two steaks. That’s a lot of clean up for just two fried steaks. It would be different if we still had the kids here. We used to cook six steaks at a time. Make a huge bowl of country gravy. Bake some Pillsbury biscuits.
Darn, now I’m salivating and hungry.
I predict we’ll be at Cracker Barrel tonight for a chicken fried steak dinner.
Not exactly the same thing, and I’m not sure of their availability, as I haven’t seen them in many places recently, but have you ever considered Breaded Veal Patties? We used to get these frozen breaded veal patties that I believe were either ground or perhaps just deeply tenderized cotelettes that had a pretty thick plain flour and breadcrumb breading… they were not the Italian seasoned type, but rather a “country” style. They fried up really crispy from frozen and were extremely tasty, very mild and beefy, and definitely tender. We never put milk gravy over them, instead we ate them plain or with mashed potatoes and gravy or sometimes made them into sandwiches, but they were really good nonetheless. I couldn’t find any online… the closest I could find were Italian breaded versions, and maybe this is an old type of dish that might only be available sporadically or regionally and related to city chicken, or might even have gone extinct. But, I think it is just naturally better than the typical Chicken Fried BeefSteak because it is, well, young beef, veal.
I’ve been served veal cutlets pretty often at restaurants that have them on the menu as chicken fried steak. They’re pretty good. I just have to avoid thinking about the baby calf.
Tyson makes a pretty good chicken fried steak. It’s one of their ‘bag-o-meat’ products, so kind of pricey upfront, ($10 - $12 per bag). And it never goes on sale.
It’s a little too peppery for my taste, but the rest of the family loves it.
