So, who-all’s going to be where and when?
I fully intend to be at Gundy’s party on Friday evening although I have no idea what time that’ll be as I’m going to be coming straight from work (so y’all will have to excuse me for not being “properly dressed”) and I really can’t say what time that will be since we’re moving an office this weekend and things like this have a tendency to run long (not to mention I’ve no idea what the traffic will be like coming in from Schaumberg, but it’ll probably be hideous squared).
I’m also planning to go to Black Rock on Saturday, but the same caveats apply.
Daerlyn, Cosmopolitan, Menmenth and myself are on our way.
Daerlyn and i are leaving Ottawa in about 30 minutes to head to Toronto, where after a brief nap of 5 - 6 hours, at Menm’s, we’re on our way to Buffalo to get Cosmo, and then onwards to Chicago. We should be in around dinnertime (maybe 5-7pm?).

I’m all packed! I can’t wait to see everyone! I’ll even flash Mnem, even though I know he’s not bringing me doughnuts.
We’ll meet, as per Jane’s instructions, at the Wrigley Building at 11 am.
Best way to get to the Aquarium is to catch the bus at the Wrigley Building and take it straight to the Aquarium.
We can play the rest of the day by ear after that, keeping in mind that public trans between the Aquarium and the Surgical Science museum (and the SS museum and Gundy’s crib) will take about a half hour apiece. I personally will recommend that cabs are taken between stops to save time (and the cost, shared among several people, will be about what the bus would cost anyhow).
And just FYI, I’ll have my car parked at or near the Aquarium and can use that for transportation purposes if needs be.
I regret that due to a pending strike at work I am unable to attend Friday night’s shinding.
I am also pissed by the realization that this is FAR more my loss than yours.

Well, actually, I have written the list of what must be packed, plus I have done all the laundry, so it’s just a matter of putting clothes into bags, which really, is the most important part.
Everyone is bringing their cameras, I hope?

**To all who are attending the Aquarium/Surgical Science trip **
I am a member of the Shedd and have a Family Pass so we will not have to wait in line at the Aquarium. I can bring y’all in through the members entrance and get you checked in there:)

We’re staying with my Dad in Blue Island. I’ve invited him to any of the festivities he’d like to attend, but he tells me he thinks he’s too old to keep up with us whippersnappers. How many 50+ dopers will be in attendance?
I don’t get to see him often (in fact, we were estranged for over 12 years and just recently renewed contact) and I’d love it if I could convince him to join us for lunch, dinner, or golfing. He’s neat and you’ll all love him if I can get him to go.
WithaK hopes to call on the cell phone sometime during the party tomorrow night. So he’ll kinda get to be there. If he manages to get to a phone, I’ll put him on speaker and we can all say hi.
I’ll be 50 in 2.5 weeks. Is that close enough?

That’s perfect! Thanks for responding in time for me to tell him - he doesn’t have a computer (yet - I’m working on him), so I won’t be able to check this thread once we leave. I’ll make a doper out of him sooner or later.
I’d say something along the lines of ‘Aw, c’mon, Dad! They’ll be at least one old guy there!’, but I’m afraid my teasing might rub some dopers the wrong way.
So I won’t say that. 
Excellent idea, both for the first timers and for people like me who can’t remember more than two new names per 24 hour period when I’m sober and the number drops when I’m at one of these. I’ll see what I can scare up.
I am all excited about tomorrow, and had a great day today too. I will be hooking up 630ish with Jane D’oh at the hotel, and we will head over to Gundy’s together.
Idea for next year: We should get into the 21st century about directions. Next year the locations all should be scouted out using pocket GPS locaters, and then publish the coordinates. We can all program them into our GPS units, and follow the arrow from anywhere in the world.
Are you critiquing Gundy’s directions? She’s very sensitive about that.
