I believe I’ll also be at Reza’s, because there is almost nothing I love more in the world than meat on a stick.

Just to confirm, count me in for dinner at Reza’s; even if I have overtime that day I’ll be getting off early enough to make it there.

Yes.

No can do. I tried everything. He won’t budge.

It will just be me.

And I am in for Reza’s too.

OK, so far I’ve got the following down for dinner, more or less in order of appearance:

Myself
Gundy and KrustyKlown
porcupine and UncleBeer
Jane D’oh!
Judith Priest
Mike G
Lurkmeister
Random
(hey, nice to see you’re still alive and breathing!)
jeevmon and jeevwoman confirmed way back when, earlier in the thread, I believe
Aries28

So that’s 12 so far…spots are going fast, folks! (Please feel free to yell at me if I forgot you.)

Yes, we are coming to Reza’s. Don’t know about the rest, but dinner, yes.

Salad I can do! This should be fun! Should I bring some beer or something?

Can I bring my fabulous guacamole? I know you are proud of yours, but seriously, can there ever be too much guacamole??

How about some shrimp ceviche? I know a place where I can get it good really reasonably. Cheaper than I can make it.

JustPlainBryan and I should be in for dinner on Saturday night.

As for the potluck, it will depend on a few things–I haven’t picked a flight yet, so I’m not exactly sure when we’ll get there on Friday. If we get in early, I’ll make a dessert–Mexican Chocolate Pie (if Kyla doesn’t mind me tearing apart her kitchen  ). If we don’t have the time to do it, then I’ll make Sangria, which is easy enough for me to pull together with little notice.
Eeep! I’m so excited!

Guacamole is good, but please allow me to put in a highly enthusiastic vote for ceviche. One ex of mine swore that shrimp were the primary reason he could never keep Kosher…his reasoning was “ïf God is good, why would He tell me I can’t eat shrimp?”

Always bring beer, doll. Always.

In that case, I’d vote he bring ceviche. I don’t care for it myself, so I wouldn’t even begin trying to make it.

  1. Goddamnit, I’ve gotta remember to subscribe soon because that stupid screen is making me nuts.
  2. Whichever you end up bringing is great by me. I made sangria last year and it, well…it got drunk, let’s just say that.

Gundy, you padding your post count or something?

For Friday, I’ll bring my traditional Chili Crack.

I’ll go ahead and commit to dinner on Saturday (well, I’ll be having dinner SOMEWHERE on Saturday regardless, I’m just committed to having it with you people now, I guess…).

Gundy is the game plan to shop on Thursday night? A repeat of last year? Let me know now so I can plan on getting the car detailed, ok? And if that is the game plan, then I’ll just plan on bringing whatever strikes my fancy from Trader Joe’s. That and Kettle Chips and vodka.

place of employment: Business trip?
Sassy: Sure, why not?
Place of employment: Okay - Chicago in May.
Sassy: (smothering cries of joy) Yes, I think I can do that.

I’ll be coming into town on Wednesday, staying through Sunday. Have to check with Jane about the hotel location, but other than that…

Hello Chicago!

Ceviche it shall be. I will bring a trio; shrimp, traditional fish, and octopus ceviche. The shrimp and octopus are my favorites, the octopus is so wonderfully tender and yummy.

I finally get to meet Java!!! Woooo!!

[sub]I’ll still probably bring some guac because I love it so much.[/sub]

P.S.

Compliments of my friend GWiv from www.chowhound.com, here is a picture of the ceviche. The avocado, tostada, and hot sauce are crucial to the taste imho.

Can someone tell me, do Chicago bars and restaurants allow smoking?
