After much hemming, hawing, logisticizing, making fun of me & wringing of hands, it’s been decided that I shall come in with Mnementh et al & rent a hotel room or two with them. It’ll have to be as handicapped accessible as possible, so I’ll e-mail Jane about that.
We have handicapped equipped rooms. That is not a problem. Please e-mail me with your specific questions.
All of the rooms here are suites and have a couch with a fold out bed in the parlor side of the suite. This makes it very easy to share a room and still have some breathing and sleeping room. And at 65/nite it really is a deal that is hard to beat in the city of Chicago.

Okay. I checked with my roommate bristlesage to make sure she was okay with it (“Is it okay if I invite eight thousand people to crash on the floor during ChiDope?”) She said yes, so…sweet! Slumber party at the House of Minor Discomfort!
Our apartment resembles a college students’ in some ways because we lack much furniture. This could be an asset for ChiDope - no pesky couches or armchairs to move out of the way. We already have a double-sized air mattress that is reserved for JavaMaven and JustPlainBryan. Now, I already told LaurAnge that she could crash here, but I don’t know she would prefer to stay with the rest of the Canadopers at the D’ohtel. It’s not impossible that we could fit another few people in here as well, as long as we all get along, and no one is freaked by the giant cardboard Buffy cutout.

We have an air mattress we can bring along, and you can save your air mattress for LaurAnge or anyone else who’s camping out at the House of Minor Discomfort.

I’d just like to throw in a second to this. I stayed in that hotel last year and it was AMAZING. I was in my own room, and it was HUGE. There could easily have been two or three other people staying with me and not feeling cramped at ALL. Also, it’s less than a five minute walk to the El Station, which is cool. The breakfast is great too, and you get a USA Today under your door (or at least I did last year…maybe someone dropped it).

I’m not sure I can provide accomodations, but I’m more than happy to be a tour guide.

OK, I’ve been meaning to do this for a bit, but it may be time to take a roll call of anyone who wants to come to dinner at Reza’s on Saturday night. For simplicity’s sake, I can make some educated guesses about who wants in (the Secret Cabal, for example), but I don’t want to split hairs interpreting every post that mentions a vague interest in dinner. So please post here with a specific Yes or No.
(Keep in mind that 20 is about the max that we can do at Reza’s without being shunted off to the banquet menu, but if we go over that number, I’ll see what alternatives we can come up with. Suggestions welcome.)
