heh. My dad used those as .22 targets as a kid.
I’m going to vote for Smarties candies. And they are a bit small to use as targets, so might as well eat them. I love them actually, they do not last long in this house.

If non-candy treats are permitted here, when I was a kid, the special treat that we got in our lunch for school trips (so, once a year) came from TastyKake. I loved the butterscotch krimpets and the peanut butter kandy kakes. You can still buy them today, but they’re not the same. I’m guessing they went for cheaper ingredients as the years have gone by. They’re still OK, but not the buttery yumminess of my youth. Which is good, I guess, lest I wolf them down by the case…
I love licorice too. Other kids would trade me my red and white jelly beans for black.
I still buy Good and Plenty occasionally because it’s sugar coated, black licorice.
Usually, complaints like this are just nostalgia speaking. However, in this case I have heard the same complaint about a formula change at the Tasty Baking Company that I believe it actually happened. It is very plausible. We know sodas switched from cane sugar to high fructose corn syrup as soon as the stuff went on the market.
They’re still much better than other snack cakes. If you have any doubts, do a taste test of swiss cake rolls: Tastykake vs. Little Debbie. Tastykakes are so much more like real food.
When I was young and carefree, I liked Mr. Bones candy–a candy skeleton in a little plastic coffin! The bones linked together, so if you had enough, you could make a whole skeleton. Which I usually couldn’t do, because I ate them.
