Soon my family will be going through an annual Xmas bonding ritual to decide who is indeed the Alpha male. This is determined by who can consume the hottest chili sauce and/or chili peppers (sigh…it’s just the way it is). I would like to contribute by giving gift packs or a collection of chili sauces to some of the participants. Any ideas about brands? Please keep in mind that I’d like to give flavor as well as heat. Thanks!
my dad went down to Florida and got me some hot sauce called Pure Cap. It comes with an eye dropper. It’s so hot you have to sign a waiver
“Dave’s Insanity”; also the hotter type of “Matouk’s”.
I would post a link, but it would be to a retail vendor of chili products that IMHO is a good one. That may not be acceptable on this board, or at least, in this forum.
Dave’s Insanity is for a baby! I smear that on my anus!

In preparation for what?
It saves time.
In his Ultimate Recipe thread, Zenster posted a recipe for a chili sauce especially designed for male competition rituals.
The thread is here and the recipe is called Agent Orange. I haven’t tried it myself, but it sounds like an absolute hellhound.
That pure cap stuff is pure capsaicin in a neutral oil, isn’t it?
If you want to give something that people will actually use, rather than just sit around until the neat contest, get Sriracha sauce from Lee Kum Kee. You can get it at any oriental grocery, or even some of the major grocery stores in the oriental aisle. It is a moderate to hot chile/garlic sauce that can be used in lots of different dishes. I go through a bottle a month. Good stuff.
The pure cap stuff is the hottest stuff possible, since it is indeed pure capsaicin. Good for male bonding rituals - but so is a ceremonial circumcison, and I wouldn’t do that on my chicken sandwich.
One the best hot sauces I’ve tried recently is “Cafe Tequila” http://www.cafetequila.com .
Probably not hot enough to prove your manhood, but a tasty sauce nonetheless.
I agree with Lamar, Sriracha (aka Rooster sauce), is both delicious and hot. I can’t claim to go through a bottle a month, but it is wonderful stuff.
I’m partial to “Scorned Woman Hot Sauce,” it’s yummy!
I’ll third the recommendations for Sriracha sauce…I like to put a big squeeze of it in my stir-frys to make them extra tasty.
For an all-around/general ‘add some monstro heat to your food’ sauce, though, I heartily recommend Blazing Saddle, by D.L. Jardine’s. It’s made from habaneros, so it’s got more than it’s fair share of a kick, but unlike Dave’s Insanity Sauce and their ilk it’s also got a quite a bit of flavor lurking in it too.
It’s the hottest sauce I’ve found that’s actually tasty and not just pure mouth-burning, and it goes well with pretty much everything.
An excellent company that markets hot sauce packages for gift-giving is Mo Hotta Mo Betta. I think they can be found at http://www.mohotta.com If Not, search for the name. It’s there.
As for Pure Cap, it is not a sauce. It is the pure Heat chemical suspended in vegetable oil, and is NOT for direct consummation. It is an ingredient to be used in other sauces and chili, and salsa, etc.
…direct consumption?
Pure capsaicin certainly wouldn’t benefit any kind of consummation, direct or indirect.
(exit, with a ducking and running style)
Oh man, I cannot believe that I wrote that…
Oh well, we all have an off day… Don’t we?
pure cap has the most heat possible, Dave’s delux insanity sauce is hotter than his regular insanity sauce, Endorphin rush is always good. Basically, look on the label of the sauce, if it says it has “Pepper Extract” added, that means pure capsaicin has been used to raise the heat, possibly to levels higher than nature intended. Viscous xylocaine is very helpful to ease the burning at the far end (smear it on the inflamed tissue) but requires a doctor’s prescription.
I have been a fan of spicey food for several decades, and I can say without reservation that “Matouk’s” is the best hot sauce there is. Believe me, I’ve looked for better, but I always come back to Matouk’s.
Most hot sauces are just chilis in vinegar, with a bit of garlic thrown in. Don’t even TALK to me about Tabasco Sauce – what a farce! It’s okay in tomato juice, but don’t put it in my meal!
What makes “Matouk’s” really good is that it adds more than mere fire to the meal you prepare. It is a multi-talented sauce. It adds flavor, too, and somehow that flavor really complements the heat.
If I had a choice of giving up cheese or Matouk’s … I’d nix cheese. Am I nuts or what?
I have this stuff called Endorphin Rush[sup]TM[/sup]. It is so hot it’s just plain stupid.
I bought for the name. I keep it…well…for the name.
I got it at one of those speciality stores that carries just hot sauce.
If you really want a hot sauce, think about trying Blair’s 4 A.M. Reserve–only 999 bottles made with a rating of 4,000,000–yes that is 4 million Scoville Units. Probably the hottest thing on the earth so far. Banana Heat wave is cooler but has a great taste. Try checking out Peppers Hot Sauce shop Rehoboth Beach DE: http://www.peppers.com
I love hot sauce and can’t get enough heat no matter how hard I try. Enjoy
