How dare you come into this thread with anything approaching an actual fact! This is a thread about abstruse hypotheticals powered by stoking fears of Fifth Column-esque overthrow and Chinese space lasers, not reality-based evidence or remotely plausible scenarios. China will never take over the US. It’s neither desireable for China, nor possible. Even with Confucian space lasers. The cost of maintaining an occupation would be incredible. And to what end? Who would buy their stuff?
But I’ll play - given a complete and utter takeover of the US by the Chinese, in a way where we still lived out our lives the same, but with univeral health care, but lost our freedoms in a manner similar to Hong Kong, yes I would be a resistance fighter. Those PLA soldiers can’t oppress us from safe military bases. They gotta sleep, eat, go to the bathroom, get laid somewhere where they are vulnerable. I wonder how many I could kill. Vive la résistance!

I think it was fairly obvious with the Space Laser thing that this was a outlandish hypothetical. I don’t why people keep trying to debate the existence of space lasers.

Because, without the thread of unpreventable death from above, there’s no way the PLA could take over the US. And, there’s nothing to keep the militia types in check. We can laugh at the play soldiers pretending to be heroes, but they really do have guns and ammo. Fighting the PLA in Montana isn’t the same as fighting the US military in Montana. Where are the PLA going to get reinforcements and supplies? Buy them at Bass Pro Shops? How many tanks and APC did they bring over? How many planes?
The French did pretty good killing Germans. Even with the threat of torture and murder, by freakin’ Nazis, no less.
It is a fantastical hypothetical. China has conquered the US. Would you fight? You said yes. I think it would be more interesting to hear why you would fight, rather than debate space lasers. i think there is another thread about Chinese Military capabilities. In this thread, however improbable, China has conquered the US.
I would fight in the resistance if trumpicans took over, turned congress into a puppet, removed voting rights, installed trump as fascist dictator for life (with inherited power) and started rounding up Democrats for reeducartion camps. It would be worth it, killing so-called “patriots”, as long as I could last.
But that’s not going to happen, either.

OK - getting back to the hypothetical, I’d like to point out a few things.
My ignorance, but can someone draw parallels and differences between the hypothetical and the repatriation of Hong Kong or the events in Tibet?
I’ve read that Charles de Gaulle was well aware that most French people got along as best he or she could under WWII occupation, up to and including outright collaboration. He thought that this would leave France torn apart, so he used the example of the Resistance fighters to create a heroic archetype - to create a myth of history - “everyone was in the resistance”.
