Aha! A while back, somebody had a thread asking about mysterious vent pipes in the middle of a field. I suggested they were periscopes on underground submarines. Some of you guys gave me the horselaugh and said I was crayy-zee! Well, look who’s got the last laugh, now! 
The truth comes out, eh?

There’s an error in the NPR story. They reported the base as being on Hainan Island, when everyone knows it is on Lugu Dao. Or, as it is known in English, Skull Island.
