I am looking into published (or otherwise reputed) analysis of when, how, and to what extent has China taken over the WHO.

The only factual answer is “they haven’t”.
China has not taken over the World Health Organization, nor do they have a vested interest in doing so. Just because they provided incorrect (and likely fraudulent, or at least deliberately misleading) data to the WHO about the Wuhan outbreak does not mean that China has taken it over any more than a witness in court who perjures himself has ‘taken over’ the court.
Please, let this thread not descend into another litany of “the CCP is primal evil deliberately proliferating the Corona virus” posts replete with links to a succession of videos made by some guy in an ill-fitting off-the-rack Men’s Warehouse suit recording his special secret information that no one else will dare broadcast in front of a greenscreen in his parents’ basement. There are plenty of existing threads chock full of this kind of nonsense already.

The argument is that China exerts substantial influence over the WHO because they flex their financial muscle, both directly and indirectly. For example, the WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom, is an Ethiopian politician, and China has invested very very heavily in Ethiopia. At a time when the US, for example, is withdrawing from international organizations and commitments, China is ramping up. The US seeks to downsize its financial contributions, while China gives more. China has been actively courting African politicians for some years, as part of their Belt and Road initiative, and money talks. China has a vested interest in taking over the WHO and other UN agencies because that cements China’s place as a world power.
This isn’t some conspiracy theory; it’s just part of the Chinese diplomatic efforts to assume what they regard as their rightful place in the world order. The US and western Europe dominated these same institutions for decades, using a lot of these same tactics; now it is the Chinese who want that same position.
