My favorite pic was the last one, with the twins in yellow. What sweet little girls.
Congrats, China Guy!
If it helps, almost the exact thing happened with me and my twin brother when we were born. Jeff was breach, and when the doctor was turning him, it wrapped the umbilical cord around my neck. Jeff was born a healthy seven pounds, while I was born a sickly gray color and only four pounds. Jeff was a healthy eater, I was not. Dad said every time he tried to get the nipple of the bottle in my mouth, I’d just grin gummily. I was in the incubator for more than two weeks, and came home a week after Jeff did.
The moral of the story is, here I am, 27 years later, perfectly healthy. And I’m sure little Serena will be the same way.
I forgot to mention a few key points. First, that Serena had a CT scan on her 1 month birthday and it came back perfectly normal. The original CT scan done by the neo-natal ICU was on a first generation machine and even a layman could see ti was flawed.
Second, my wife was no longer haunted from the first day we got Serena out of the ICU and back to the in-patient clinic. We all moved into the in-patient clinic and being able to get hands on enabled my wife to put the nightmares behind from that day.
Finally, we’ve been home two weeks and everyone is doing great.
Glad y’all liked the pix. You’ll also be relieved to know that both twins are starting to grow their hair out so won’t be sporting haircut’s like their old man for much longer.
China Guy, what a beautiful family you have! Glad the twins are home and doing well. Big sister certainly looks pleased with them, too.
Oh, one more thing. Sheesh, it seems like I keep getting interrupted about every 2 seconds. Even with help at home – Grandmother to my surprised amazement has really stepped up to the plate. We’ve also got a night nanny so I can sleep and put in the 10-12 hours a day the company owns me. I say that tounge in cheek. I pay my dues but it’s a great company and they’ve been real supportive.
anyhoo, are they identical twins? Christ almighty, I have no idea. Certainly the twon of them are pretty close. They proved at birth to be individuals, and how I wish Serena had choosen a less stressful way of announcing the fact. Owing to the birth, they’ve put on weight differently. They have a lot of similarities, but not that sure about identical or not. Kinda wierd, but they aren’t side by side all that much. They are feet to feet in a crib at times, but often in a bouncer, car seat or being held by someone.
The pediatrician has explained there are no simple tests. really have to do a full DNA test to truely tell.
If anyone out there has a quick and easy way to determine if they are identical or fraternal, I’m all ears.
I thought, and I knownothing about twins, so this is worthless, that it was how they were in the amniotic sack: each in their own or both in one. something about how the egg(s) divided.
I thought that with a decent ultrasound the doctors could tell…but, I’m talking out of my butt here.
First, congrats on getting both home! They’re beauitiful, as is your older daughter.
AFAIK the only way to tell if they’re indentical is with a DNA test.
China Guy, you have (next to my own children, of course) the most beautiful kids I think I’ve ever seen. The babies are just beautiful, and your older daughter is stunning.
Lovely, lovely family. Congratulations.
You have a beautiful family. I’m truly very glad everything turned out so well.
Yay for China Guy and his household of beautiful ChinaBabes.
