CT Scan done at 1 month birthday came back 100% normal. Other than weak suckling (but we can feed her no problem with the high tech baby bottles - thanks Patty!) Serena is great and should have no lasting effects of being born not breathing, limp and completely blue. Even better, Serena and her twin are coming home on Saturday!!!
i’ll link when i open a new thread.
pretty speechless as my fears are now laid to rest.
Nope, wouldn’t dream of taking credit for the incredible power of Doper Prayers and Good Vibes ™ –
Excellent new, China Guy!
I’m so thrilled for you, China Guy. I know it’s been a long and difficult month for you and your wife. Finally … your beautiful family is going to be all together! Congratulations!
Oh, and be sure to post some pictures of the Chinettes in your new thread!
I’m all alone in our flat. Well, it sounds like I’m all alone. Chinawife is out getting a massage, China Bambina is with her aunt, maid is out buying fresh produce for dinner, Audrey and Serena have both been fed (by me), cuddled, and are sleeping peacefully side by side in the living room.
I’ll have to add it up but Serena spent 7 days in the incubator, 11 more days in the neonatal ICU intermediate care unit, then 18 additional days at a private hospital. She still doesn’t suck so well, but swallows fine. The Haberman Feeder is a great device for babies with this type of feeding problem, and we are having no problem getting a good daily average injested. CT scan done at 1 month came back 100% normal! Been having trouble with doing a successful hearing test. Right ear has tested twice as fine, and the left one has questions marks. Docs say that the hearing can be either the machine or that newborns and especially preemies can have poor results that clear up quite quickly. Considering she came out blue, limp and not breathing, and now gets almost 100% bill of health, I’m just estatic. [my heart goes out to parents who have children with permanent problems - we had a terrible month cronnicled here but it was temporary and we’re all home.]
I’ll probably start a new thread, and need to figure out a place to post a few pictures so y’all can check out the Chinettes.
Oh wow. I’m so very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very glad to hear that.
YEESSSSSSS!!!
I’m so pleased to hear this news China Guy.
May the future be considerably less stressful than your last month.
Oh, and post pics quick. We’re an impatient lot around here!!
That’s so fantastic! You’ve all done wonderfully - what a strong, happy family you’re building!!
Congratulations on your homecoming!!
That’s excellent news!!! Many congratulations to you all and hopes for continued strength for your family.
Now, where are those pictures???
I’m doing my Happy Thank You Dance.
yay!!! :D:D

Besk of luck in the coming months, keep us updated!

Whoooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooo!
Great Great News!
Now, where are our pictures of the Chinettes?
See, now you have something to hold over her head when she misbehaves.
“You don’t know HOW worried we were for the first month of your life…and this is the thanks we get?” (Cue weeping and wailing and rending of garments)
I’m so relieved, China Guy. Let’s put this thread to rest and start a new one, free of worry and stress and sleepless nights.
I’ve got to start a new thread and will over Chinese New Year.
For anyone still checking, we’ve been home 8 days. Took Serena in for her check up yesterday, and she had put on nearly 1 pound in 7 days. The pediatrician was pretty amazed.
we’ve gotten as much as 80 cc down her suckling on her own. I think 120 cc using the Haberman Feeder (definately something to check out if you have a baby that can swallow but doesn’t suckle very well).
Whilst I’ve been relegated to the second string as I have to work about 10 hours a day, my wife and grandmother have really nailed the daytime. We have a night nanny that feeds the Chinettes better than I do.
Things are going great. I wouldn’t have believed it a month ago.
congratulations China Guy, and Happy New Year! Greater things can only happen after a difficult start.
yay
I was just wondering yesterday how Serena and the rest of the China family were doing… Good to hear positive news!
Thanks for the update.

::collapses with relief::
Now, can we have the celebratory cigar?
What beautiful news, China Guy. -deep sigh- Those little girls have a lotta people all over the world smiling with relief and joy.
Pictures !!! C’mon. Working 10 hours a day, juggling newborns, toddler and tired wife…please. We Dopers, we have needs too!!

Wow. I missed this before with all the craziness with Tinkleberry. It sounds terrifying. Good luck, and I’m thinking good thoughts.
