Chocolate milk + laptop != goodness

So my wife was using the laptop today (MacBook Pro, about a year and a half old) and spilled, in her words, “a couple of tablespoons” of chocolate milk on the left-hand side. Some of it got through the keys to the, well, whatever dwells underneath the keys area. She tipped out as much as she could, but obviously there’s some leftover residue. The good news is that it appears to still work fine. The bad news is that the left-hand keys feel rather stiff, and don’t pop back up quite as quickly as they used to.

Is there anything I can do to safely clean it further? I assume spraying water would be a bad idea. Will the stickiness gradually work itself out as milk particles flake off? Or should I just be grateful that it still works and move on with my life?

We’re staying married, which goes to show we were truly meant for each other.

The usual solution is alcohol. It’ll dissolve most things you would have been drinking in the first place, and what residue is left will dry quickly enough that it won’t cause its own problems.
