Chocolate Thunder from Down Under

My wife and I were eating at an Outback steakhouse the other night, and one of the desserts the waitress offered us was a “Chocolate Thunder from Down Under”

We were speechless. They really serve a food called this? Is it just me, or does this name sound a little… you know… rude?

I mean, for a place like Outback Steakhouse, I imagine that each of the menu items gets approved by an army of committees and marketing executives. Did none of them catch this? Is it supposed to be a joke?

What the heck is going on?

And here – just to prove I’m not making it up. An Outback Steakhouse website: http://www.kelseys.ca/outback2/pages/desserts.htm

The items on the menu at Outback Steakhouse have NOTHING TO DO with stuff we eat in Australia. I just want to point that out from the start.

And yes, Chocolate Thunder from Down Under sounds anything BUT appetising to me.

I worked for a competitor briefly and we pretty much referred to it as Outhouse Shteakhous.

Never trust a steakhouse that hides the food.

I try really hard to ignore the name, because I love the dessert. I find myself going “mmmmmm…chocolate thunder from dow…ack…god help me, it’s good.”

If it helps I’ve never heard of that before :).

Silent mate, you just don’t go to the right places.

Pfft! The Outback Steakhouse crowd ain’t got nothin’ on this!

I was pretty damn shocked when I saw an Outback Steakhouse when I went back to Sydney this year!

I was expecting a thread about Darryl Dawkins in Australia. Nevermind.
