Choose an album for me to listen to, beginning to end.

He said he was doing work around the house, not the hallowed halls that are filled with great computers.

Exile on Main Street

All three albums by Blackmore’s Rainbow featuring Ronnie James Dio.

OAR, 34th & 8th

In my defense, my own house is hallowed halls filled with great computers. No distinction, AFAIC.

Sublime by Sublime

Starts off with the only bad song on the album and then rocks the rest of the way through.

OK, so I actually liked ‘Time’. 21st Century Man is Beatlesque. Hold On Tight I’ve heard but never knew it was ELO. It gave me a Traveling Wilburys/Roy Orbison vibe (Yes, I know Jeff Lynne was a Wilbury). Thanks for the rec.

I’ve done this before, maybe a year ago, and someone recommended Marquee Moon. I think it was probably you, Bo  Anyway, it’s become a favorite. I shall spin it (so to speak) next.

Already a big Violent Femmes fan, by the way. Another good 'un.

Christ, I’m doing work around the house. Not *building *a house.
mmm

:smack:

I thought this seemed familiar! It was indeed me who recommended both Television and Violent Femmes last year. Please allow me to make a fresh recommendation: Buddy Guy’s Sweet Tea

mighty like a rose- by elvis Costello

Ah, yes, I thought I had remembered this thread from before. Looks like I suggested something laid-back and cool jazzy last time with Brubeck’s “Time In.”

I’ll go with something a bit more uptempo and rocking, though I suspect by now the OP has more than enough suggestions: Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys. This is partially based on his positive review of Marquee Moon, although I wouldn’t really say The Soft Boys sound like Television, or anything like that. But they do share very similar audiences, and this is one of my favorite albums from that era.

Songs in the Key of Life by Stevie Wonder (I don’t know if it is on Spotify).

The Notorious Byrd Brothers

Kraftwerk - Autobahn , it seems like good house cleaning music to me.

Had to cut it short today, but I will resume tomorrow. There is no way I’ll get to all of these, so I’m going to pick what sounds the most interesting among those I am unfamiliar with.

So keep the recommendations coming.

No worries, at least you’re consistent. I’ve heard some Buddy Guy, but not Sweet Tea.

Interesting choice. I am an Elvis fiend and I find this to be one of his weaker efforts. What do you like about it?

I’ve heard of the Soft Boys, but have not *heard *them that I know of. I will definitely give this a listen.

Great suggestion! I bought this on vinyl when it was current, played it to death. I don’t think I’ve heard it in >30 years though.
mmm

I’d go for the 1979 album “Prince”

Either “Tommy” or “Quadraphenia” by The Who

I thought it might be a good idea to list the recommendations along with a notation or two. Note that I’ve decided to not play anything I am familiar with.

Neil Diamond – Hot August Night. Not available on Spotify.
ELO – Time. Listened to it, enjoyed it more than I expected to.
Television – Marquee Moon. Familiar. Played it anyway.
Violent Femmes – Familiar.
David and David – Boomtown. Never heard of it/them. A possibility.
LCD Soundsystem – Sound of Silver. Never heard of it/them. A possibility.

mmm

Definitely worth listening to, and would pair well (I think) with my suggestion of Underwater Moonlight, as that album definitely draws inspiration from the jangle and psychedelia of the Byrds.

Songs from the Wood by Jethro Tull. Every track on that album is good, and most of them are nice and lively, to keep you in rhythm while working.

I don’t know if it’s on spotify, but I consider “Rites of Passage”, Indigo Girls to be a perfect album.

The Dregs - Unsung Heroes

Or, depending on the size of your house (you didn’t specify), Physical Graffiti.

Trust me on this.
