The jacket is the only thing that keeps dozens of people from asking him every day if he’s Bobby Bacala from The Sopranos.
I would watch his weight. If he’s serious about running for President in 2016, I would expect him to be trying hard to get in better shape. In additional to the possible affect on his political image, the job does require a lot of stamina, and he needs to look like he can handle it.
BTW, I knew that twitter account was a parody when I saw that his picture showed him stuffing his face. I can’t imagine any politician using that as his twitter pic.
If we see him start losing weight, watch for other signs of a 2016 run. Unfair as it is, a guy that fat just isn’t going to be perceived as Presidential-looking these days.
(It’s faint, but its there, look to the left of the microphones)
Hard to post a link from my iPad, but I just read a report on Politico that Christie was Romney’s first choice for Veep and was considering announcing right before his Olympics trip. Romney changed his mind and decided on Ryan right after the trip, but kept Christie waiting until right before making the Ryan choice public.
Also read that Christie has said that Mitt hasn’t called him since Sandy hit. I don’t think there is much love lost between those two.
My vote is that Christie realizes the best thing for him to do for a presidential run later is to be a good govenor now, when many eyes are on him. Leading recovery efforts, comforting individuals, making voting as easy as possible in harsh conditions, all while eschewing partisan politics days before an election. Hell, even if he is just doing it all for his own later political benefit, I’m impressed.
