As much as I loathe Chris Christie, there are worse people in our President-Elect’s inner circle, starting with Steve Bannon and Jared Kushner.
The quality of most groups of people would be improved by giving Christie the boot. We’ve got an exception here, and it’s in the worst possible place.
I have to agree with RTFirefly. Christie was among the best of the people Mr. Trump had advising him.

I detest the prospect of a Trump administration as much as anyone, but I’d like him at least to have a functioning administration. Less government - OK, fine. A decapitated government … it’s kind of scary to think about government agencies just flopping around headless.
Yeah, I accommodate that he probably was the sanest (not saying much) and most experienced guy on Team Dump, but he has repeatedly raped New Jersey and I’m enjoying this moment of vindictiveness . . .

I have to particular affinity for the guy. Certainly don’t like the company he keeps. But every time people say his name there’s this implied ominous tone. Why?
He’s married to Ivanka, who seems like the sane one in that family, so he can’t be too awful.
On the other hand, she could be a gold-plated bitch but is better at hiding it than her dad.
She does tend to use the same over-the-top verbiage as he does and she does defend all his shit.

I dunno. I’d barely heard of the guy until I read that he’s the guy who fired Christie … for once jailing Jared’s daddy! Those who think “like father like son” is a myth don’t live in the real world. Kushner the Elder was jailed, probably for financial crimes; Jared’s father-in-law is a contemptible sociopath who should be in jail… I’m not going to waste my time researching Jared’s sins. You Google him please and get back to us.
Another of Jared/Trump’s key advisers was head of a committee who was unable to link Hillary to the Zodiac Killer murders … so he got fired also. Now we’re left with a key foreign policy adviser who led the “Obama is a Muslim” charge. :smack: Maybe we should be thankful there are intelligent gremlins in the Kremlin who might soon actually be running the White House. Even that might be preferable to the clowns Jared is dredging up from the sewers.

Immediately? He purged some people from the transition team this week who kinda sorta actually knew what they were doing, for the sin of having pretty modest connections to Christie.
I can understand his vendetta against Christie himself, although his Kushner, Sr. really was a crook who engaged in some rather aggressive witness tampering - got a prostitute to lure a (male) witness against him to lure the witness to a hotel for sex, filmed the action, and shared the video with the witness’ wife who IIRC was also a witness against the elder Kushner.
But extending that vendetta to anyone with a casual connection to Christie when you need all the help you can get just to make sense of things - that’s crazy stuff. But fits in well with Trump’s own excessive loyalty requirements.
And like Trump, he’s just another dilettante, doesn’t know shit. He’s the one who asked the question about how many of the White House staff would stay on. Yet he’s one of the first people Trump turns to for advice, apparently even before Uday and Qusay.
