You can click on www.espn.com and then click on the link there. Supposedly webber lied about recieving $280,000 from a University of Michigan basketball booster. Other members of the Fab Five apparently also got cash, jewelry etc, from the same booster.
Do I think Webber lied? He seems to be the kind of person who tells people what they want to hear—now I don’t mean that in a bad way.
He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Chris is a bitter person and it would’nt surprise me if he was so stubborn that he thought he’d get away with this.
That Booster, Ed Martin, ran a huge gambling and numbers outfit from a local Ford plant. Proceeds went to UofM recruits and basketball players. Everybody knew what was going on.
Chris tried to cry poor during college by saying he’d have to put food back for not having enough money. Yet I saw him with my own eyes driving a brand new Explorer.
Of course, we’ll get an oligatory column from Mitch Albom decrying greed in the NCAA. He’ll complain that administrators, universities, coaches, and shoe companies will get rich off these kids. Of course, he won’t mention authors who write books on NCAA athletes.
I hate that guy. I really, really do. I was here at Michigan when he blew that game with the timeout call, and every single Michigan fan I saw or knew (including myself) stood behind him with the attitude that he was still a great player, that it wasn’t his fault, that’s it’s not one blunder that loses a game but it’s every missed basket that they could have sunk before, he was a great kid,etc etc etc. And then since he’s left Michigan he’s talked sh*t about the program and the school, and proven his arrogance, and now this Ed Martin thing. I am glad they finally brought the indictment.
