In the recording, does he sound like an ass? Does he take a defensive stance regarding what he was doing? Seems like his feathers would have been ruffled but he actually is apologetic.
Good that there’s no weaseling or excuse-making. Total ownership. He’d also previously apologized to the DP way back when this happened, so it’s not just something he’s doing now.
Ah now, it’s not all that self-serving. He also said:
He’s already done the work, been paid and gone on to do other work. He’s got his money and and a bright future career whether the film is a huge hit or goes down in flames. He’s not asking for himself, he’s asking for the other people on the film, the cast and crew.
Ha, same here. We know that it’s an intense, emotional scene and that Bryce Dallas Howard is also in the scene. It should be pretty easy to spot.
I know there’s a thread on the topic and my OP could get closed, but I’m posting this for those who don’t want to wade through the multi-page thread, but might be curious because they’ve heard about the rant…
Earlier, Ron Howard talked about the incident. His daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, was there when it happened.
This morning, he called a radio station morning show to talk about it.
So basically this is a self-proclaimed “in conclusion” thread because the other thread was too big for you and not everyone agreed with you? And gosh, there were a variety of opinions?
Thank goodness for this conclusion thread to make up my mind for me.
Good for him. I"m glad he manned up, and I’m glad he refused to make excuses because, as he said, it was inexcusable. In that, he showed more wisdom than many good-hearted people who were lining up, here and elsewhere to bend over backwards to excuse him.
That’s a pretty nice apology. I still hope he gets some lessons on controlling his temper either through therapy or yoga/meditation, if he hasn’t already. I just think it’s a healthier and easier way to live.
Me too. think it’s interesting, and admirable, that he too rejects all those carefully constructed rationalizations and just says, in effect, “I was way out of line and I’m sorry for it.” Good for him.
That looks like he cowboyed up and gave a genuine apology. I don’t see any waffling about the situation, or any attempt to excuse himself. It’s a pretty cool gesture.
